What is Acupressure and how does it work?

Acupressure is given instead of, or in addition to, acupuncture. Acupressure is essentially acupuncture without needles. Different massage methods are used with strong stimulation to specific acupuncture points on the body. Acupressure works like acupuncture to stimulate the flow of Qi (energy) and blood along the meridians to heal the body. It is very comfortable and relaxing and is usually the patient’s favourite part of the treatment.

Does Acupressure massage hurt?

Acupressure massage uses the professional's hands to alter the function, flexibility and tension in the muscles and joints of the body. It is possible that after your first appointment you may feel a little sore. This is a totally normal reaction to treatment. It may be that you feel sore in various areas of the body as your body readjusts to a change in the mobility that the treatment affords. This feeling of discomfort will gradually ease.

Does Acupressure have any side effects?

With careful diagnosis and treatment acupressure can improve your condition, ease your pain and increase your mobility. It is possible that you may feel some minor reactions to your first couple of treatment sessions but there are no side effects.
